We spotted a common spotted orchid (dactylorhiza fuchsii) in the Hanwell Meadows, and we were pretty excited about this discovery. Dactylorhiza fuchsii is a common orchid, widespread across much of Europe and other regions of the world, but the fact that we found exactly one makes it rare and exciting to us.
We talk to it from time to time and hope that some of the seeds find the right conditions to grow and spread across the meadow.
It is no longer in flower now, but you might still spot it. Please treat it well if you do.
