The Clearing Report

Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who came to the January 9th Clearing Day event regardless of a pretty poor weather forecast.

The Boyz in Green (otherwise known as Ealing Council park rangers) didn’t let us play with their fabulous power tools, but they brought them to very good use while volunteers cut, slashed, dragged, tore, carried and threw brambles and self-seeded sycamores, cleared areas for planting in two weeks time and constructed a bug den from fallen and cut trees.

Within three hours an several cups of tea, flapjacks and biscuits, we built the bug den and prepared a planting area at St Margaret’s Open Space, cleared a large area from overgrowth behind the Scout Hut at the Trumber’s Way entrance to Elthorne Waterside, and prepared the top terrace at Elthorne Waterside for planting.

Thanks to our resident videographer Steve Haskett for putting together the video and pictures so quickly.
