It feels odd reporting progress at The Piggeries Orchard while everyone is down here working at the Osterley Lock Orchard Extension. The simple truth is that there’s just so much going on, particularly at the time of year when many would think this is the wound-down, quiet winter season, it is quite simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
The piggeries did get the new fence this week, and we are now good to go with further weeding, ground preparations and, on 21-January-2017, the Piggeries Planting Day! Please mark the date.
The new fence between the towpath and the piggeries provides a demarcation line and will support, then be supported by, and eventually be overgrown with, an hedge of fruit and nuts, edible by animals and humans alike.
The two openings invite to walk across the site. With fruit trees, wild flowers, meadow and wetland area, we think the piggeries will make for an irresistible invitation.
Our heartfelt thanks to the many good folks who helped to make this become a reality. It is now!
