Apples

DSC_0534 (2)Description

All cultivated apples derive from malus domestica and share a common ancestor with the crab apple (also crabapple or wild apple).

Apples are deciduous trees (meaning, their fruit tends to fall off the tree when fully ripe) in the rose family (Rosaceae), and therefore related to most other fruit trees in our orchard.
