Black Mulberry

tree-89-black-mulberryDescription

Black Mulberry (morus nigra) grow into large and spreading trees over time, but take several years until the first fruit emerges, as many as eight or nine according to the RHS. Once fruit develops, fruit is harvested by shaking the tree onto a sheet. Makes delicious compote, juice, jam, ice cream.

Also makes superb stains; the staining power of the ripe Black Mulberry is legendary.
